Props Needed:
A photo of your father.
Sermon:
(This went with a sermon on 'Being a Blessing', with Genesis 27:34-38 as the text.)
(Say:) Today is a special day, isn't it? Who can tell me what today is? That's right, it's Father's Day, and I brought a picture of my daddy to show
you. (Hold up photo.) My daddy has already gone to Heaven, but I am happy because I know I will see him again when I go to heaven. I brought this
picture of him to show you, because I wondered if you would think I look like him - do you think so? ( Hold picture by your face and let them have
a look.) Lots of people have told me that I do look like my dad, and I'll bet some of you have been told that you look like your dad or mom too,
haven't you? Well, just as we often resemble our earthly parents, we are also like our Heavenly Father, God. In fact, the Bible tells us that He
created us in His own image, and we are given gifts of the Spirit that make us more like Him. Who remembers the fruit of the Spirit that we
learned in Kingdom Kids this year? (Let them call out "love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control".
Galatians 5:22-23) Good! Yes, and God gives us those gifts because He wants us to be more like
Him. He also wants us to use His gifts to help us to be a blessing to others. So when you go home today, and when you're with your family and
friends this week, I want you to remember that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you very much, who gives you wonderful gifts, and who wants you
to use your gifts to be a blessing. O.K.?
Thanks for coming today, and you may go back to your seats and give your daddy a big hug!
