Lesson
(Let the children interact as much as possible and time allows)
You all look very nice today! Did you pick out the clothes you are wearing? How did you get your clothes? (Some may be gifts, or given from a relative or friend that has outgrown them, or purchased – all reasons to be thankful)
How do your clothes get clean? When you are at home, what is your favorite food? How do you get groceries? Who goes to get the groceries? How do they get to the store? Who pays for the groceries? Where did they get the money? You kids sure did mention a LOT of things to be thankful for…but, have you ever thanked anyone for the things we mentioned? Have you helped carry the groceries in the house, or helped put them away, and said, “Thanks?”
Did you thank the person that gave their clothes to you after they had gotten too big to wear them anymore? Have you ever thanked someone for washing and ironing your clothes – or for buying them for you?
Someone works very hard to get money to provide for you. Have you ever thanked them for generously spending their money to provide food, clothing, and a home for you?
What are some things that you have done that someone thanked you in return? How do you feel when someone says thank you to you for helping or for sharing? It does feel good, doesn’t it?
If YOU were the big person, going to work every day, or you were the one that washed the clothes and cooked the food, would you like to hear someone say, “Thank you?”
Did you know that it is GOD that really provides ALL for all your needs? HE is the one that created you. God created the grown-ups in your home, too! They started out as babies and grew up. You are growing up fast, and you will be one of those grown-ups someday too. God is the one that helps you and the grown-ups every day. HE provides jobs that we need so that grown-ups can take care of their families. GOD as made our bodies so that we can breathe without thinking about it! Because of the miracle of the way our bodies are made, we can think, walk, talk, and learn! GOD made everything for a reason and that reason was for us to glorify HIM. We should be thankful to God for everything. We should pray daily and thank Him for loving us so much.
