Jill writes, "I've done this with Kindergarten through third grade and they all LOVE
it!"
Blow up enough balloons so that you have one for each word in the verse,
then write the word on it. Tape the balloons to the wall in the correct order.
(You might want to tape them to a bulletin board or other padded
surface.) Have the children say the verse. Allow one of the children
to pop one of the balloons with a well sharpened pencil, or even throw
a dart. (Carefully supervise this). If the
verse is long, you may want to pop two words at a time. After each
balloon popping, have the children say the verse, filling in the missing words. By the time all
the balloons are popped, the children will be well on their way to knowing the verse by
heart!
Variation of Play: Divide the teams into adults against the children. We found
Bible verses and wrote each word on a slip of paper then inserted one paper into each balloon and blew them up. We then gathered all balloons for one
Bible verse and bagged them in trash bags. Each team was them handed one trash bag. When I said "go" each team was to dump their balloons out, sit on them to pop (they could not stomp or use sharp objects to pop balloon, they had to sit on them...even the adults), gather all slips of paper, and arrange the
Bible verse in correct order.
I am not sure who had the most fun, the adults or kids!
